Advanced Microwave Technologies
was established as an Industrial Microwave Research team in 1987.

AMT’s Core Team:

AMT employ and partner with a number of specialists across a broad range of fields on a project by project basis. Our family run core team are all specialists in their related fields and microwave research and development. We are passionate about the benefits microwave technology can bring to industrial processes and products.

Microwave engineer with over 30 years experience in microwave process development and microwave material interaction. He has broad experience in the application of microwave energy to many industries and has worked extensively on novel commercial applications.

David has designed many microwave applicators utilising state of the art power supplies and simulation software packages. He has worked extensively in new process development both in Australia and overseas.

Electrical engineer with 17 years experience in industrial microwave research and development, applicator design, system automation and microwave interaction & simulation.

Aaron Waters

A materials engineer with over 15 years of experience in industrial R&D, specialising in computer modeling, simulation, thermodynamics, and experimental design. His expertise in computer modeling includes developing models to predict material behavior and optimise industrial processes.

Andrew Milne

Andrew is an associate engineer involved in all aspects of microwave research and development, including managing hands-on laboratory trials, data collection & analysis, applicator design & software modelling.

DAVE MILNE

With over 35 years of experience in Australian manufacturing, David has worked as an electrical engineer specialising in process control and automation. His extensive background includes roles in power distribution, heavy industry, pharmaceuticals, and the food and beverage sectors, collaborating with companies such as Bluscope Steel, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Lion Nathan. David brings a wealth of experience in project management, design, documentation, and software development.

Graham Davis

Graham has been building and assisting in the design and fabrication of microwave equipment for over thirty years. He specialises in precision stainless steel and aluminum welding, bringing practical experience and expert insights across many industries.

Fritz Schaefer

Manager of AMT US Office, Colorado Springs, specialising in New Product Development and Marketing, Fritz Schaefer is an international thought leader with over 30 years of experience in high-power microwave heating for industrial manufacturing. He played a key role in Varian’s industrial microwave business, introduced multiple innovative products, and led an industry-first project at Dow Chemical for chemical reactor heating, enabling emission-free fertilizer production. Fritz holds three patents related to microwave applications and is supporting AMT's expansion into the US market.

Prof Grigory Torgovnikov

Honorary Fellow at Melbourne University, Prof. Grigory Torgovnikov specializes in microwave processing of wood, food, and agricultural materials, as well as designing high-power microwave equipment for materials processing. He has vast experience in high-power systems and has designed unique 300 kW microwave installations for timber modification. Grigory holds several patents for microwave processing technologies and has published extensively on microwave technology and dielectric material properties. His expertise is engaged on select AMT projects that align with his specialisation.

John Hoebergen

Founding partner, John Hoebergen, is associated with the development of microwave cremation technology and the destruction of hospital waste, contributing to AMT’s specializsed capabilities in these areas.

AMT maintains close connections with a diverse network of experienced specialists, both locally and globally, who are engaged for specific projects as needed.
